Two field experiments were carried out at experimental and research station, Faculty of agriculture, Cairo uUniversity, Giza during 2001 and 2002 summer seasons. Objectives were to compare the grain yield, land equivalent ratios of growing corn and soybean on each of mixed intercropping pattern (ridges - 120 cm), alternating pattern 2 : 2 (ridges 60 cm) and solid cultures Corn was thinned to 1, 2 and 4 plants / hill in intercropping and solid patterns with distances of 35 and 70cm between hills. These systems resulted in 10,000 and 20,000 plants per faddan of intercropping cultures, as well as, 20,000 and 40,000 plants per faddan in solid ones
