These autoantibodies opsonize platelets for splenic clearance, resulting in low levels of circulating platelets. Aim:The current case-control study aimed at detecting the frequency of IL-23R gene polymorphism in egyptian children with ITP and its possible role as a genetic marker for ITP risk. Materials and Methods: IL-23R gene polymorphism was studied in 50 ITP patients and 100 healthy age and sex matched controls by PCR amplification of the target gene followed by allele specific restriction enzyme digestion (RFLP technique).
