This work has been carried out to evaluate the role of cystatin C and nitric oxide as a new risk factor in patients with renal diseases. Finally all the experimental results evaluated and tabulated & statistically analyzed. Setting: Cairo University hospital, Critical Care Department. Patients: The population study consisted of 72 subjects were classified into five groups: control group (GI) consisted of 20 clinically healthy adult subjects, acute renal failure group (GII) consisted of 18 patients, acute nephritis group (GIII) consisted of 10 patients, renal insufficiency group (IV) consisted of 12 patients and kidney stone group (V) consisted of 12 patients. Interventions: Patients' serum levels of cystatin C and nitric oxide were measured upon admission to an intensive care unit. Conclusion: Cystatin C and Nitric oxide can be considered as a good diagnostic marker in patients suffering from renal diseases. And monitoring of the level of NO in renal patients is very important due to nitric oxide participates in several vital processes
