It was found, that bevacizumab is taken up and stored in vitro in the porcine retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cells model. In this study, the uptake and intracellular localization of bevacizumab are investigated via immunofluorescence and Western Blot studies, in order to elucidate the underlying mechanism of degradation and storage and possible relevance in vivo. Ultimately, this study attempts to determine the pathophysiology of RPE and bevacizumab interaction and the related pathways, and in combining the data with clinically relevant questions, a better understanding of the function of RPE cells as well as determining potential side effects of anti-VEGF therapy can be reached ER -
