Ears of mice treated with the aforementioned agents 20 minutes before and 4 hours after FITC challenge exhibited amelioration of oxidative stress as manifested by decreased TBARS and NOX contents parallel to increased GSH content and SOD activity. Decreased inflammatory biomarkers as manifested by decreased MPO and EPO activities as well as TNF - Ü content. This was associated with a decrease in plasma IgE level and ear IL - 4 content, in addition to improvement of histopathologic insults, decreased ear thickness and reduced bouts of scratching ER -
