This study was to determine the efficacy and safety of intravenous paracetamol in closure of hemodynamically significant PDA in premature neonates in comparison to ibuprofen and indomethacin. The study included 40 premature infants 36 weeks gestational age admitted to Kasr Alainy hospital, NICU units, Cairo university between October 2013 and August 2014 whom had clinically significant PDA. 20 cases received intravenous paracetamol. 17 had their PDA closed after 1st course with closure rate of 85%, 3 cases received 2nd course, 2 of total 3 infants had their PDA closed with closure rate of 10%.10 cases received oral ibuprofen 8 had their PDA closed after 1st course with closure rate of 80%, 2 cases received 2nd course, one case had PDA closure with closure rate 10% and 10 cases received intravenous indomethacin 7 had their PDA closed after 1st course with closure rate 70%. 3 cases received 2nd course, 2 cases had PDA closure with closure rate 20%. Monitoring of hepatic functions pre and post treatment showed no significant adverse effects related to treatment
