Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic diseases associated with the development of microvascular complications and accelerated macrovascular diseases, evidence implicates the formation and subsequent effects of advanced glycation end products (AGEs) as a contributing cause. Pentosidine is one of the best marker for advanced glycation end products. The objective of this work is to study effect of oxidative stress and plasma pentosidine level as a best marker for advanced glycation end products and its complications in type 1 diabetic children.53 children and adolescents included in this study were divided into two groups; control group and diabetic groupgroup. Fasting blood samples were collected from both groups for determination of fasting blood glucose by spectrophotometer, pentosidine by high performance chromatography (HPLC), glycated heamoglobin by Olympus analysis, malondialdehyde by HPLC. First morning urine samples were collected for determination of albumin creatinine ratio by spectrophotometer
