The present work resulted in extraction and purification of five potential anticancer compounds from chaetomium globosum Kunze, which was isolated from Egyptian soil. Two of these compounds were tested against michigan cancer foundation 7 (MCF 7) breast cancer cell line, Hepatocellular carcinoma, Human (HEPG 2) a human liver carcinoma cell line and COS cells [CV 1 (simian) in origin, and carrying the SV40 genetic material] a fibroblast-like cell line derived from monkey kidney tissue, showed inhibition effect against the proliferation of the three tested cell lines. Structures of two of the five pure compounds were elucidated by ¹HNMR and Mass spectroscopy as methyl 2, 9, dihydro 1, 2, 8, trihydroxy 9 oxo 1H xanthene 1 carboxylate as a member of xanthones and (E) methyl 2, hydroxy 6, 6, dimethyl hept 3 enoate
