A major goal of the study of the atmospheric aspects of air pollution is to be able to describe mathematically the spatial and temporal distribution of contaminants released into the atmosphere , and to be able to solve the mathematical system , which consists in general of a system of partial differential equationsDue to the lack of a closed form for the boundary or initial conditions and due to the variable coefficients the analytical solutions are excluded and numerical techniques such as the finite difference method , the finite volume , spectral methods and the finite element method must be employedWe should note that numerical solutions are approximate solutions and there is no one numerical method that is uniformly the best for all problemsThe reliability of solutions obtained depends on the properties of the approximations used
