Background: Treatment of atopic dermatitis is still a challenge. Vitamin D deficiency is one of the most important factors in the pathogenesis of atopic dermatitis, thus supplementation with oral vitamin D assumed to offer additional therapeutic option for atopic patients. Objectives: The aim of the study was to assess the possible role of vitamin D in the treatment of AD whether it is induced by phototherapy or given as an oral supplementation. Results: Both groups showed improvement of calcidiol level after treatment with no statistical difference between them (p value = 0.666) and also improvement of SCORAD index after treatment with no statistical difference between both groups (p value = 0.172) Conclusion: Oral vitamin D and NB-UVB are both effective in treatment of atopic dermatitis.
