The study was divided into a pilot study and a main study. The pilot study was carried out to determine the time required to develop early diabetic neuropathy in STZ-induced diabetes in male rats. According to the results obtained from the pilot study, the main study was carried out to assess the possible treatment and prophylactic effects of CMB and ALA against the development of diabetic neuropathy after fourteen consecutive days of daily combined treatment with GZ. The assessments were accomplished by: 1- Monitoring behavioral responses to external thermal and mechanical stimuli. 2- Biochemical evaluation for carbohydrate metabolism by determining glucose serum levels and C-peptide, beside inflammatory biomarkers such as TNF alpha serum level and IL-10, oxidative stress biomarkers including serum nitric oxide (NO) level and MDA level, and high affinity insulin receptor (HAIR) and low affinity insulin receptor (LAIR) levels in hippocampus tissue UR - http://172.23.153.220/th.pdf ER -
