Abnormal uterine bleeding is a common reason for gynecological visits and a significant cause for anemia in perimenopausal women which should be investigated properly. In the past, dilatation and curettage has been the method of choice for obtaining an endometrial sample, it is an invasive procedure requiring the use of general anesthesia, so it is better to use safer and simpler investigations such as: TVS or hysteroscopy. Three dimensional ultrasound has been introduced into the clinical practice during the last 15 years and has been used extensively in cases of abnormal uterine bleeding due to its high ability to register all three imaging planes simultaneously. It also allows more precise evaluation of the uterine cavity, the relation of the myomata and their possible encroachement on the cavity and it also allows measurement of the endometrial volume rather than the endometrial thickness in cases of perimenopauasal bleeding
