The prepared gamma irradiated graphene (GIG) exhibited high protection efficiency for AISI 316 in 3.5% NaCl solution which was enhanced upon inclusion of chitosan (CS) into the GIG matrix. Electrochemical measurements proved the stability of GIG and GIG/CS coatings after different immersion times and at elevated temperatures in 3.5% NaCl solution. On the other hand, the corrosion behavior of GIG coating and its composites with different concentrations of organic inhibitor was evaluated in 0.5 M sulfuric acid solution. The protection efficiency increases upon increasing the concentration of the inhibitor.
