K. Schum through DNA fingerprint. The study of lipoidal matter of n-hexane extract of the unsaponifiable matter and fatty acid methyl ester of M. zanzibarica were analyzed using GC/MS. Isolation of oleanolic acid, ursolic acid, quadrangularic acid L and quadrangularic acid K from the chloroform fraction and isolation of 5,7,3`,5` tetrahydroxy flavanone, luteolin, Nigaichigoside F , luteolin-7-O-{uF062}-D-glucoside and apigenin-7-O-rutinoside from the ethyl 2 acetate fraction. Total steroidal content, total phenolic content and total flavonoid content were carried out on the total alcoholic extract and antioxidant assay using DPPH assay which was carried out on different extracts and fractions of aerial parts of Markhamia zanzibarica. The in vitro cytotoxic activity revealed that n- hexane extract was the most potent cytotoxic one on the HeLa cancer cell line while the Chloroform fraction was the most potent cytotoxic one on the MCF-7 cancer cell line. The in vitro estrogenic and anti-estrogenic activities revealed that the defatted alcoholic extract and the ethyl acetate fraction possessed estrogenic activity whereas the n-hexane extract and n-butanol fraction possessed anti-estrogenic activity. The study of lipoidal matter revealed presence of sterols in the n-hexane extract while the study of LC-MS/MS revealed presence of verbascoside compounds in the n-butanol fraction UR - http://172.23.153.220/th.pdf ER -
