Purpose: to investigate the effect of Functional Ankle Instability on Lumbar proprioception. Subjects: 30 subjects of both sexes (17 females and 13 males), their age ranged from 18-25 years. Methods: subjects were selected and assigned into two groups. Group A; 15 subjects having functional ankle instability with mean age of 21.2± 2.4 years, weight of 68.46±13.5 kg , height of 166.46±10.1 cm and BMI of 24.42±2.9 kg/m2, Group B; 15 normal subjects with mean age of 21.13±2.1 years, weight of 62.8±14 kg, height of 167.13±9.68 cm and BMI of 22.3±3.3 kg/m2. Lumbar proprioception was assessed using Biodex system 3 pro isokinetic dynamometer. Results: There was a statistical significant difference in lumbar proprioception between group (A) and group (B) as mean ± SD was 3.44±1.38 for group A and 1.7±0.76 for group B. Conclusion: There was a decrease in lumbar proprioception in subjects with functional ankle instability than normal ones, so this effect should be considered in the rehabilitation protocol of subjects with functional ankle instability UR - http://172.23.153.220/th.pdf ER -
