Regional climate model is one of the well-established methods used to obtain high resolution climate conditions over a certain area, but prior use any Regional climate model over any area, the model should be configured first. Configuration of the model requiring determination of all parameters involved, the extent of the domain covering the area of interest, the horizontal resolution of the domain, and parameterization for some physical processes. In this study we configure the Weather Research and Forecasting model (WRF) for regional climate application over a domain centered over the Eastern Nile basin, by investigating the effects of changing the extent of the domain, the horizontal mesh size of the domain and using different combination of physics parameterizations schemes. A set of experiments are conducted to reach the best extent for the domain covering the Eastern Nile Basin with the suitable resolution and the best combination of the parameterization schemes. A simulation period extending over two years (1998-1999) was used, focusing on the precipitation field and the surface air temperature field within the area, compared with some observational datasets for both the precipitation
