Lifestyle and behavioral factors such as diet, exercise and self-care have a crucial role in the prevention and management of T2D. The motivation behind the desire to change is a cornerstone of adopting a healthier lifestyle. Motivational interviewing (MI) is a counseling technique that emphasizes to individuals incentives to change rather than just giving information. Aim: Study of the effect of Motivational Interviewing on glycemic control, BMI, general diabetic knowledge and stage of change of self care behaviors of type 2 diabetic patients. Results: The motivational interview did improve the interventional group compared to control group significantly as regard HbA1C (8.96 vs.10.86, p<0.001), BMI (29.5vs.30.53, p=0.04), general diabetic knowledge and SOC of (treatment adherence, foot care and healthy diet) after 3 months follow-up. Conclusion: MI has positive effect in management of type 2 diabetic patients and showed improvement of general diabetic knowledge, glycemic outcomes and self care as regard treatment adherence, foot care and healthy diet UR - http://172.23.153.220/th.pdf ER -
