Objective: To assess whether use of Laser assisted technique of stapedotomy may enable better outcomes in terms of Intra and Postoperative Complications as well as of Hearing Gain & Tinnitus Outcome compared with Classical stapedotomy technique. Methods: Fifty Patients were recruited from the ENT outpatient clinic in the Kasr Al Aini Hospital . Patients were randomized for two different surgical variants : Conventional Vs Laser Stapedotomy . Pre- versus post- operative ABG closure has been measured in all the patients, and occurrence of intra- and post-operative complications & Reversal of Tinnitus were rated. Results: Laser stapedotomy gave better hearing outcome than the conventional methods. Laser stapedotomy provided less intra-and post- operative complications than classical stapedotomy , except in Intraoperative injury to middle ear structures .Also, the laser stapedotomy gave better outcome than the conventional methods in postoperative reversal of tinnitus. Conclusion: Laser-assisted stapedotomy may be considered a reliable procedure for treatment of otosclerosis
