It can be associated with reduced fetal birth weight. Placenta previa is a leading cause of antepartum hemorrhage one third of all antepartum hemorrhage occurs due to placenta previa. The placenta previa is a condition in which the placenta is attached to the uterine wall close to or covering the cervix. It occurs in 2.8 / 1000 singleton pregnancies and 3.9 / 1000 twin pregnancies. The incidence of hysterectomy after cesarean section (CS) for placenta previa is 5.3% (relative risk compared with those undergoing CS without placenta previa is 33). Perinatal mortality rates are three to four times higher than in normal pregnancies. Placenta previa is itself a risk factor of placenta accreta which is associated with severe hemorrhage and is considered as a life threatening condition ER -
