Doping semiconductor nanocrystals with transition metal ions or lanthanide ions introduce new features, phenomena and properties. Introducing Mn⁺² or Co²⁺ ions introduce magnetic properties into the semiconductor characters and lead to the formation of a new class of materials called diluted magnetic semiconductors (DMS). This class of materials is widely used in spintronic and optoelectronic devices. No studies had been reported on the effect of doping QDs with lanthanide ions. This thesis is devoted to prepare CdSe quantum dots (QDs) of different sizes doped with Tb ions (i.e. Tb³⁺ ions) of different ratios and study the effect of doping on the optical properties. The samples were prepared using organometallic pyrolysis method. The key issue in this successful doping is using suitable organometallic compound as a dopant, which decomposes at the same temperature range as the host precursors UR - http://172.23.153.220/th.pdf ER -
