Agric., Cairo Univ., Egypt during the period from Nov. 2012 to Feb. 2016. The research was aimed to develop a complete protocol for micropropagation of Egyptian cultivar of taro using meristem culture, study the effect of different concentrations of sucrose, maltose and activated charcoal to produce in vitro microcorms and evaluate new methods for open field production. At proliferation stage the highest number of shoots was on MS with 2 mg/l BAP. At rooting stage, MS media with IBA 2.0 mg/l gave the highest number of roots. The highest surviving percentage was recorded on vermiculate & peat moss at acclimatization stage. At in vitro microcorms induction experiments, the microcorm wasobtained on MS medium with 6% sucrose or 1% AC. During the field evaluation for two seasons, the plants showed variations UR - http://172.23.153.220/th.pdf ER -
