N2  - The thesis discusses the concept of city visions and how each city could create its own  vision which built on different realities and different challenges. The purpose of such  analysis is to ground the vision into reality, to provide an understanding of the {u2018}starting  blocks{u2019} when cities are looking forward to their futures and to address creative and  effective approaches including identifying some categories of visions of the future carried  out by different case studies ( Middle East cities), and suggest a wider overview of how  cities see themselves in the future .also discussing achieving balance between internal  challenges of expressing the shared rooted values of their communities ideology and the  external challenges of global competition to reposition themselves in the global context  ,All dimensions that have been discussed tended to be elaborated in one analytical  framework that can analyse any city vision regardless the differences of approaches that  had been used
