<br/><br/> Obesity is considered a preventable worldwide epidemic. It is accompanied with high rates of morbidity and mortality. Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) and mini-gastric bypass (LMGB) are both safe and effective procedure for the surgical management of morbid obesity. Bleeding and leakage are the most fearful life threatening complications. Patient and methods: 50 morbidly obese patients were included in this combined retrospective and prospective study. It was conducted during the period between March 2015 and March 2016 with follow up for 6 to 12 months post operative for the prospective part. The patients were equally divided into 2 groups; Group A: LSG patients, while Group B: LMGB patients. In group A: three complications (12%) were encountered in 3 patients who underwent LSG in the form of hemorrhage (4%), gastric leakage (4%) and gall bladder stones (4%). In Group B: two complications (8%) were encountered in 2 patients in the form of deep venous thrombosis (4%) and gall bladder stones (4%). No mortality occurred in our study. LSG and LMGB are both safe and effective procedure with no statistically significant difference in the incidence of complications between both procedures
