The aim of the study is to review clinico-pathological characteristics and managements of GIST and evaluation the results of management, recurrence and progression of the disease in the cases presented to National cancer institute (NCI), Cairo university. Patient and methods: This is retrospective study for 43 patients with GIST registered at the NCI between January 2009 and December 2013. We found that the mean age was 57 with range of (27-87). The ratio from male to female was 1:1.86. Majority of the cases had primary GIST in the stomach (65.1%), followed by small intestine (23.3%), large intestine (4.6%) while mesentry involved in (7%) of the cases. Size of the lesion in 76.7% was >5 cm while it was <5cm in 23.3% of the cases. The most common histological type of GIST was of spindle cell type (81.4%) while it was epithelioid type in (14%) and mixed type in (4.6%) of the cases. Surgical resection of the tumor was the principle mode of therapy in our study
