The thesis introduces different models to select the monthly optimal tilt angle to maximize the collected solar radiation on inclined surfaces. Isotropic and anisotropic models are used to compute the collected solar radiation components using biogeography based optimization BBO technique. The achieved results are compared with the measured data recoded from actual PV modules at Faculty of engineering, Cairo university using solmetric PV analyzer. The thesis also focuses on the study of the performance of MPPT techniques to get the maximum power from the PV array using P and O, and IC algorithms under the variation of load, solar irradiance, and temperature. The simulation results of applying these two different MPPT techniques using MATLAB/SIMULINK models are extensively compared to select the most efficient algorithm
