Valproic acid ias an important drug for its role in the treatment of epilepay as well as other CNS disorders. Unfortunately, it suffers from two main problems, its poor brain bioavailability owing to ecessive binding to plasma proteins and its efflux outside the brain by the action of P-gp pumps. Accordingly, higher doses are needed resulting in serious side effects such as liver toxicity. Morcover, the conventional dosage forms of the drug which are available now in the market offer less than 10% brain bioavailability
