These extracts were tested in vivo on lipid peroxidation in ethanol - CCl4 induced liver toxicity model EtOAc fraction of these two extracts was proved to be responsible for the antioxidant activity by DPPH assay , and it was further purified via polyamide , cellulose and sephadex LH - 20 column chromatography Antioxidant compounds were isolated and identified through spectroscopic methods as (quercitrin) and (isoquercitrin) in Pgraveolens extract , (reynoutrin) , (rutin) and gallic acid in C siliqua extract Furthermore , standardization of both plant extracts was carried out by determination of the total polyphenol content using Folin - Ciocalteu colorimetric method Total flavonoid content was determined by spectrophotometric and HPLC methods
