Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common neurodegenerative disease and is considered to be the leading cause of dementia in the western countries. Excitotoxicity have been implicated in the pathogenesis of several neurodegenerative disease including AD. Exposure to L-glutamic acid (GIu) excitatory neurotransmitter increases the activity of glutaminergic system & excitotoxicity.
