The DNA fingerprinting of leaves of lavandula pubescens decne. was done to help in the identification and characterization of the plant. The DNA was amplified using ten decamer primers to reveal 97 different RAPD technique. The hydro-distilled volatile oil of the flowering aerial parts of lavandula pubescens decne. was analyzed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MS). Twenty eight components were identified representing 87.39% of the total oil. Carvacrol (22.39%), cis-Ý-Farnesene (13.25%) and Ý-Bisabolene (12.9%) were the major constituents. Lipoids were detected in the hexane extract. Unsaponifiable lipoids (USL) and fatty acids methyl esters (FAME) of hexane extract were analyzed by GC/MS. The percentage of total identified fatty acids was 40.83%, while that of unsaponifiable matter was 83.51%. Octadecenoic acid was the major fatty acid identified representing 12.72%. 5-Hydroxy1,3,4-trimethoxy-7-methyl-6-propar-naphthalene was the major identified component in the unsaponifiable matter representing 36.64%, followed by Hentriacontane (8.09%). The antimicrobial potential of the methanol extract and its fractions (n-hexane, methylene chloride, ethyl acetate and n-butanol) as well as the volatile oil were assessed. All the tested samples except the n-butanol fraction exhibited broad spectrum activity against representatives of; Gram-positive bacteria; Bacillus subtilis, staphylococcus aureus and streptococcus faecalis and Gram-negative bacteria; Escherichia coli, pseudomonas aeruginosa and Neisseria gonorrhea. The n-butanol fraction showed antimicrobial activity against all tested gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria except Staphylococcus aureus
