Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) accounts for nearly 90% of the primary liver tumors and is currently the third leading cause of cancer death worldwide. Approximately 500000 new cases of HCC are diagnosed worldwide each year . In the meantime, non-surgical treatment modalities have been developed for hepatic tumors for more than 10 years . Imaging-guided thermal ablation with use of different energy sources, such as radiofrequency, microwave, high intensity- focused ultrasound (HIFU), or laser . The benefits of thermal ablation include low morbidity, few complications and repeatability for recurrence
