Influenza vaccine is a biological preparation containing three strains of influenza virus indicated for active immunization against influenza. Natural immunomodulators could modulate the immune system response against different diseases. This study aimed to determine the role of natural immunomodulators such as garlic & vitamin 2E3 in mice vaccinated with influenza vaccine. Mice were vaccinated with 2 doses of influenza vaccine. Garlic and vitamin E were administered orally either alone or concurrent with influenza vaccine. Parameters of innate and adaptive immune response were monitored in different groups after 7, 14, 21 and 35 days. The concentration of influenza antibodies, IL-2 were determined by ELISA technique. WBCs count and phagocytic activity were also determined using Sysmax and NBT test respectively. Influenza antibodies were significantly enhanced by the administration of garlic &/or vitamin E. The administration of garlic or vitamin E alone or concurrently with influenza vaccine increased the phagocytic activity during all tested time periods. IL-2 cytokine was significantly increased by the administration of garlic &/or vitamin E concurrently with influenza vaccine. Garlic or vitamin E alone didn't affect WBCs count, however it was significantly decreased by influenza vaccine and was restored to normal range by concurrent administration of garlic and vitamin E with influenza vaccine for 35 days. These results suggest the use of garlic and vitamin E as immunomodulators to enhance the immune response against different diseases, especially against influenza virus
