KW - Phalangeal shaft fractures N1 - Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Orthopedics; Issued also as CD N2 - Hand fractures are one of the common problems that are encountered in the trauma setting, and the most common fractures in the upper limb. The proper treatment of these fractures is needed in all cases so the hand functions are not affected. Prolonged immobilization should be avoided because ofthe risk of permanent stiffness; however, overly aggressiveattempts at internal fixation may lead to soft tissue damage, tendon adhesions, infection, and the necessity for a secondaryprocedure for implant removal. When operative treatment is indicated the choice of the method of fixation should be rigid enough to permit early mobilization preventing stiffness. One of these methods is the interosseous wiring technique. The rigidity of this method is debatable. This study was performed to prove or preclude that the technique is rigid enough to permit early finger mobilization postoperatively UR - http://172.23.153.220/th.pdf ER -
