The use of the constrained acetabular component has been proposed to treat the challenging cases of hip instability.Of the 20 cases, 10 were males and 10 were females. Out of these, 12 were on the left side and 8 were on right side. The age range was 36 to 76 years (mean was 58.2 years). We used one approach for all cases (posterior approach of the hip), used both clinical evaluation system (Harris hip scoring) and radiological evaluation follow-up.These cases had hip instability either preoperatively or intra-operatively and they were all treated with hip arthroplasty involving use of constrained acetabular component (The Single Articulation or Double Articulation Constrained cup). The follow-up period ranged from12 to 30 months (averagewas20.4months).Harris hip score clinically assess hip joint function preoperatively, 3 months and 1 year. Harris hip score [mean 25 vs.77vs. 91, respectively]. The improvement between 3 months and 1 year was statistically significant.Radiological evaluation in short and median term follow up, none of our 20 cases experienced loosening. Our study recommends that the use of constrained acetabular component should be considered as salvage procedures as it is an effective option in the treatment of patients with instability of the hip based on the Harris score as well as the radiological follow-up, further studies is recommended for a long term follow up results
