Methods: We did this study on 300 neonates, divided them into 3 groups according to the gestational age (28 to 32,33 to 37 and >37) transcutaneous and total serum bilirubin were measured before initiation of phototherapy and after stopping of phototherapy by 6 hours. Results: Transcutaneous bilirubin has a very good correlation with serum bilirubin in all age groups (p>0.05) except for neonates from 28 to 32 weeks before initiation of phototherapy (p<0.001) due to under estimation of transcutaneous bilirubin versus serum bilirubin in this age group. Conclusion: Transcutaneous bilirubin is an accurate method in measuring bilirubin levels versus serum bilirubin as it correlates significantly with it UR - http://172.23.153.220/th.pdf ER -
