The induction of toxicity was initiated with a single i.p. injection of DEN (160 mg/kg b.wt.). After eighteen days, the toxicity was promoted with a single i.p. injection of Fe-NTA at a dose level of 5 mg Fe/kg b.wt. This study included 40 Male rats that were grouped into five: Group I included healthy rats, group II of rats received DEN+Fe-NTA, group III received 200 mg/kg b.wt. of RE for 2 weeks followed by DEN+Fe-NTA, group IV received 1 g/kg b.wt. of GTE for 2 weeks followed by DEN+Fe-NTA and group V received 50 mg/kg b.wt. of RA for 2 weeks followed by DEN+Fe-NTA. RE, GTE, RA continued to be given orally to the animals till the end of the experiment. Results: The administration of Fe-NTA after DEN dose to albino rats resulted in acute toxicity which was characterized by a highly significant elevation of serum urea, creatinine, uric acid, ALT, AST, serum, renal and hepatic MDA and TNF-Ü (P=0.000) with vacuolation of epithelial lining renal tubules and necrosis of sporadic hepatocytes. The oral administration of RE, GTE and RA prior to DEN+Fe-NTA treatment could ameliorate the increased levels of the aforementioned parameters with GTE of the more pronounced effect on kidney and liver function parameters while RA showed the best antioxidant impact UR - http://172.23.153.220/th.pdf ER -
