The use of levosimendan versus an IABP in patients with poor left ventricular function undergoing coronary artery bypass graft surgery is controversial;the aim of this study is to compare the use of levosimendan versus an IABP in patients with poor left ventricular function undergoing coronary artery bypass graft surgery. Patients and method:A prospective non randomized study that was conducted on sixty patients presented with coronary insufficiency were subjected to CABG surgery with poor left ventricular function Ejection fraction less than 35% , in kasr el ainy hospitals (Cairo university) from February 2015 to July 2017. The patients were subdivided into two groups 30 in Group (A) will be submitted to levosimendan and Group (B) will be submitted to intra-aortic balloon pumpand were evaluated thoroughly preoperative , intra-operative and postoperative , especially the duration of mechanical ventilation , use of inotropes, Intensive care unit stay, hospital stay and mortality Results:levosimendan infusion group had less significantICUstay thanranging from 3 to 6 days with a mean of 4.4 ± 0.77 day)IABP group (ranging from 4 to 7 days with a mean of 5.2 ± 0.85 day. However, mortality and the frequency of other major complications were no different between our 2 groups ER -
