The original work of the submitted thesis consists of two parts: Part I: In the first project: Starting with khellin, two series of novel 1,3,4-thiadiazole-benzofuranaanda1,3,4-thiadiazole-furochromenone derivati- ves were synthesized via heterocyclization of alkyl benzofuran-carbodithioate and alkyl furochromenone-carbodithioate with various hydrazonoyl halides, respectively. In the second project: Starting with khellin, a new series of 1,3-thiazole-benzofuran derivatives were synthesized via heterocyclization of benzofurane-carbothioamides with hydrazonoyl halides. Also, 1-(4,7-dimethoxy benzofuran-5-yl)-3-phenylprop-2-en-1-one derivatives were used for synthesis of another series of 1,3-thiazolo-pyrazole-benzofuran. In the third project: Starting with visnagin, a series of novel thiazole-pyranochromene and thiadiazole-pyranochromene derivatives were synthesized. Part II: In the first project: Starting with 3-acetylindole, 5-(Aryldiazenyl)-thiazoles and 1,3,4-thiadiazoles bearing indole moity were synthesized via reaction of hydrazonoyl halides and indole-thiosemicarbazone and alkyl (indolyl) carbodithioate, respectively. In the second project: 3-Acetylindole proved to be a useful precursor for synthesis of various 1,3-thiazoles,1,3, 4-thiadiazoles and pyrido [3,2-e] [1,2,4] triazolo[4,3-a]pyrimidin-5(7H)-one
