Background: Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common articular disease which leading cause of chronic disability which the economic costs of OA are high. Aim: This study was conducted to focus on intervention of laser effect on chondrocytes apoptosis mechanism in addition to traditional physical therapy exercises. The endpoint results were interleukin 1-beta concentration, pain intensity level during rest and Painless active range of motion of knee joint. Materials and methods: Forty five patients from both sexes with primary osteoarthritis were randomly assigned. Their age ranged from 40 to 55 years old. The patients were divided into two groups. Group I: Fifteen patients received traditional physical therapy exercises only while group II: Thirty patients received traditional physical therapy exercises and laser therapy. Both groups received treatment three times per week for two weeks. Interleukin 1-beta concentrations level in blood serum, pain intensity level and painless active range of motion were measured before treatment and after last session of the program
