Introduction: Immune thrombocytopenic purpura affects approximately 100 per million of the general population per year, and about half of these cases occur in children. Chronic ITP refers to thrombocytopenia lasting for >12 months. Around 10-20 % of children fail to achieve remission at one year and run a chronic course. Many clinical and laboratory risk factors associated with chronic immune thrombocytopenia in children. Objective: To study the clinical and laboratory risk factors associated with chronic immune thrombocytopenia in children and the impact of treatment on the course of the disease. Materials and methods: Eighty patients diagnosed as immune thrombocytopenic purpura (40 patients with acute ITP and 40 patients with chronic ITP) are subjected to full history taking, thorough clinical examination and laboratory investigations with reviewing of the medical records
