Background & Aim:Triple negative breast cancers (TNBC) are a heterogeneous group of tumors defined by negative immunohistochemical staining for estrogen receptor (ER) and progesterone receptor (PR) and lack of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (Her2) overexpression. It accounts for approximately 15%-20% of breast cancers diagnosed worldwide.The aim of the study is to assess the clincopathological features, treatment outcome,pattern of failure and survival among the patients diagnosed with early stage triple negative breast cancer treated in the adjuvant settings. In addition, assessment the cytokeratin 5/6 basal marker expression among patients with triple negative breast cancer to define the basal like breast cancer group, and its impact on survival outcome. Patients and Methods:This is a retrospective study included one hundred TNBC patients.The study was done on recorded TNBC cases that were diagnosed, treated and followed up at National Cancer Institute (NCI), Cairo University in the period from January 2012 until December 2014. Study patients were classified into basal like and non-basal like groups based on the positivity of basal cytokeratin 5/6 marker in order to study the difference between the two groups. All cases were analyzed as regards the patients clinicopathological characteristics, adjuvant treatment modalities used, patients disease free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS). The median follow up of the study was 44.3 months (Range 21.3-57.9 months)
