Objectives: The aim of this study was to compare the effects of two different force magnitudes on maxillary posterior segment intrusion in treatment of adult subjects with skeletal open bite. Materials and methods: Twenty patients were recruited from the outpatient clinic at the Orthodontic Department, Faculty of Dentistry, Cairo University. Segmented levelling and alignment was done for the maxillary posterior segments bilaterally till reaching 19*25 stainless steel arch-wire. Two infra-zygomatic and two palatal mini-screws were inserted for each patient, a full head cone beam computed tomographic image (CBCT) was taken. Intrusion was then initiated by means of nickel titanium closed coil springs, using 200 and 400g of force for the comparator and the intervention groups respectively. After a duration of 6 months, a second CBCT was taken for the evaluation of the intrusion phase. Results: There was statistically significant results for posterior teeth intrusion in both the comparator and the intervention groups, with no difference between the two, with significant anterior open bite closure. There was also insignificant tipping of posterior teeth during the intrusion phase for both groups with no difference between both groups
