Absence of nursing staff from work put a great burden on any health care system in terms of hiring, training and maintaining nurses. Job satisfaction has been noted as one of the factors influencing an employee{u2019}s motivation to attend. Studies on the relationship between absenteeism and job satisfaction seem to be inconsistent. Aim: The present study was to investigate the relationship between absenteeism rate and job satisfaction among ICU nurses in selected hospitals. Design: A descriptive correlational design was used in the study. Sample : Were (307) nurses working in selected ICUs. Setting: In 14 ICUs at New Kasr Elani Teaching Hospital and El- Manial- Univerisity Hospital. Tools : Data were collected through utilizing two tools: the first tool was Job satisfaction questionnaire consisted of two parts, the first part was related to personal characteristics of the participants , the second part was to assess the nurses level of their job satisfaction , the second tool was nurses attendance records used to assess absenteeism rate of nurses ER -
