Background& Objective:Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a primary malignancy of the liver and occurs predominantly in patients with underlying chronic liver disease and cirrhosis. MicroRNAs regulate at least 60% of human genes, including tumour suppressor genes and oncogenes and, thereby, can affect cancer risk.MiRNA-192 is thought to be positive regulator of p53, a human tumor suppressor. They are also overexpressed in gastric cancer, and could be used as biomarkers or therapeutic targets. It has also been suggested that miR-192 could be used as a biomarker for drug-induced liver damage. Aim of the work: In the present study, miRNA-192 expression levels (thought to be positive regulator of p53)in human HCC serum is intended to be examined by specific qRT-PCR to detect its role in HCC. Subjects &Methods:Fiftytwo newly diagnosed HCC cases and 30 apparently healthy individuals were recruited in this study. MiRNA-192 level was measured by TaqMan- Real time PCR assay
