Interleukin (IL)-17 is a proinflammatory cytokine involved in the pathogenesis of several autoimmune and inflammatory disorders. Aim of work: To measure the serum and tissue levels of IL-17 in LP patients in comparison to controls, in order to assess the possible role of IL-17 in the pathogenesis of LP. Methods: This study included 30 LP patients and 30 age and sex matched healthy controls. Blood samples and skin biopsies were taken from all participants for evaluation of serum and tissue IL-17 levels by Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Results: Serum and tissue IL-17 were significantly higher in patients than controls (p=0.000 for both). A statistically significant positive correlation was found between serum IL-17 and extent of the disease (r=0.584, p= 0.001) ER -
