Introduction: HSPDA is considered to be associated with various comorbid illnesses in premature neonates. Correlating BNP with PDA significance may provide a quick noninvasive screening method. Furthermore, persistent PDA in preterm often results in hyperdynamic left ventricle which can alter measures of left ventricular function which is an important prognostic determinant of clinical status and long-term outcome in preterm neonates Aim of Work:Our study was aimed to assess serum level of B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) in neonates with HSPDA and HnSPDA and determine its role as a diagnostic biomarker of PDA while measuring left ventricle function in preterm with PDA Subjects and methods: This cross sectional study was carried out on 73 preterm neonates having either HSPDA which were 41 patients or HnSPDA which were 32 in number as determined by the ECHO.Patients were divided into HSPDA or HnSPDA after the ECHO was done. If PDA was 2mm or more, or if the LA to aortic ratio was more than 1.5 it was determined to be HSPDA
