Central nervous system anomalies are the commonest and represent near 30% of all the other congenital anomalies (Temtamy et al., 2008). By a study done in High Risk Pregnancy Unit, Kasr Al Aini Hospital, and Cairo University to detect the incidence and prevalence of congenital anomalies in pregnant women, CNS congenital anomalies were the commonest as incidence and represented 32.1%of all the other congenital anomalies (Ali et al., 2013).Neural tube defects, are the commonest central nervous system congenital anomalies, are a group of anomalies resulting from failure of closure of normal neural tube (Gupta et al., 2010). Anencephaly, encephalocele and spina bifida are the most common forms of neural tube defects (Radulescu et al., 2012). Some of the neural tube defects are incompatible with extra uterine life and others are associated with post natal disability (Buisson et al., 2002) UR - http://172.23.153.220/th.pdf ER -
