Rats were allocated into seven groups (n=10), (GP-I) normal-control group received distilled water, (GP-II) exposed to single dose (5Gy) gamma-irradiation, (GP-III) ISO group received ISO at doses of 85 and 170 mg/kg, subcutaneously, for 2 days with a 24-hr interval, (GP-IV) ISO-IRR group exposed to 5Gy IRR then received ISO at doses of 85 and 170 mg/kg, subcutaneously, for 2 days with a 24-hr interval, (GP-V) & (GP-VI) received ZF or PR, respectively, for 5days prior IRR and ISO, (GP-VII) received combined ZF and PR pretreatment for 5days prior IRR and ISO. Parameters for evaluation the protective effect of the tested drugs included serum levels of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-Ü), high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (Hs-CRP) and activities of creatine kinase (CK-MB), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) andaspartate transaminase (AST) as well as lipid profile, in addition to, cardiac tissue activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase and levels of malondialdehyde (MDA) and glutathione (GSH). Histopathological examination of cardiac tissue was also carried out UR - http://172.23.153.220/th.pdf ER -
