The purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of using Edmodo in developing and enhancing the academic writing skills.A qusai experimental study was conducted including one random sample of 30 EFL male and female students studying at the first year in languages in MSA university .Three instruments were used a checklist, a pre-post test and a questionnaire .The checklist was used to check what the adequate skills of academic writing for first year students in languages are. The prepost test was administered to identify the effectiveness of using Edmodo.The questionnaire was used to reveal their needs in academic writing .The findings of the study showed a remarkable improvement in academic writing skills as the participants' attitudes towards academic writing skills after the implementation of the Edmodo positively changed. Additionally, implementing the effect size equation, the study revealed that Edmodo project had a large effect size in favor of the post application
