Hypertension in neonatal period or NHT as per definition is when the blood pressure (BP) is above 2 standard deviation or more than 95th percentile over the mean of systolic and/or diastolic BP for infants of similar size, gestational age and postnatal age. Neonatal hypertension causes are multiple and include both congenital and iatrogenic causes. The clinical features of neonatal hypertension have various spectrum from being asymptomatic to life threatening complications. The incidence of NHT in different studies is 1%-2.5% in NICU admitted neonates. In pediatric population the prevalence of hypertension is around 3% and is often indicative of an underlying disease process. This retrospective study aimed to detect the incidence of systemic hypertension among neonates admitted in the neonatal intensive care unit and to determine the associated risk factors, as well as, reviewing the appropriate management among neonatal age group. The study included 1980 newborns admitted in the neonatal intensive care units of Cairo University Childrens Hospitals over the year 2018. History, clinical data, laboratory and imaging results were collected from the files of the patients and their progress notes. Possible risk factors such as umbilical catheter insertion, TPN or other transfusions, length of hospital stay and body weight were taken also noted
