Sarcopenia is a recognised geriatric syndrome but few studies address its associated factors among elderly with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). This study aimed to determine the prevalence of sarcopenia and its associated factors among the elderly with T2DM. This study was conducted on 86 adults with T2DM aged 60 years. Data on socio-demography was collected, geriatrics assessment was done and routine labs were done for the studied cases. Sarcopenia was defined using the European Working Group for Sarcopenia in Older People (EWGSOP) criteria and its associated factors were analysed using multiple logistic regression. The proportion of elderly with T2DM with sarcopenia was 24.4%. Sarcopenia was significantly associated with male sex (Pvalue=0.005, OR 6.904 and 95% CI: 1.813, 1.813). Serum calcium level below 8.85 mg/dL (P value=0.024, OR 0.251 & 95% CI: 0.076, 0.832) and BMI < 28.5 (P value=0.046, OR 0.842 & 95% CI: 0.711, 0.997) are risk factors for sarcopenia. HbA1C was not significantly associated with sarcopenia
